Former senior vice president of Sarhad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi has asked Pakistan Railways (PR) to seriously consider the revival of Goods in Transit to Afghanistan (GITTA) cargo service for earning millions of rupees profit.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, Sarhadi who is also chairman of the SCCI standing committee on railways and dry port, said due to lack of facilities at the present dry port and not functioning of the Azakhel Dry Port, the exporters are facing problems. He said due to the lack of export cargo train service to Karachi from the present Peshawar Dry Port, the exporters have no option other than transporting their goods to Karachi through private trucks.
